CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY
Benjamin Troy, M.D.
Symptoms of psychiatric illnesses can be intense and challenging for entire families. For those who struggle with a mental illness, no aspect of life will go untouched. Relief can be found in talk therapy, exercise, spiritual interventions and medications. A successful treatment plan will often use aspects of numerous types of modalities to try to attack the issues from multiple angles.
In today's medical system, PSYCHIATRISTS MOST OFTEN ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEDICATION ASPECT OF CARE. Many parents understandably have concerns about the use of psychiatric medication in their children. It is a decision made after careful consideration of benefits and risks. But when taken and prescribed correctly, the biological aspects of psychiatric illness can often be greatly helped by judicious use of medication.
Common issues treated in my practice include ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder.
